1. Once, like you, I had a true-love
Who vowed and declared he loved me true; Then he went away and married another, And that is the love they have for you.
2. I wish I was a little sparrow,
One of those kind that flies so high; I would fly away to my true-love's window, And there I'd talk as he passed by.
3. 'But I am not a little sparrow,
Neither have I those wings to fly; So F1I set me down in grief and sorrow And try to find some way to die. |
